Jignesh Sheth, MD to Receive John Derrickson Early Career Physician Service Excellence Award from the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American College of Physicians (PA-ACP)

Jignesh Sheth, MD, Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations at The Wright Center, has been selected by the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American College of Physicians (PA-ACP) as a 2017 recipient of the John Derrickson Early Career Physician Service Excellence Award.

The Derrickson Award is named after the organization’s former Chapter Executive Director John Derrickson. According to the PA-ACP, it recognizes an early career physician of the Chapter whose volunteerism, energy, and initiative advanced the mission and goals of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Sheth has exceeded the qualifications for this award through his work at The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education and The Wright Center for Primary Care. As a physician-faculty member, he practices Internal Medicine at The Wright Center for Primary Care Mid Valley while educating residents and interprofessional students, preparing them to serve within the ever-changing healthcare landscape. Dr. Sheth is passionate about effective integration of health information technology into daily practice and has been instrumental in garnering regional and national recognition, including the 2015 HIMSS Ambulatory Davies Award, to The Wright Center. He was instrumental in the construction of the Meaningful Use of EMR infrastructure, which allows residents at The Wright Center to deliver a comprehensive plan of care to patients at every visit. Dr. Sheth has also received professional acknowledgement for his role in the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s Pennsylvania Chronic Care Initiative. Through his expansive work within the residency program and within The Wright Center’s primary care environments, Dr. Sheth has demonstrated his commitment to physician education and patient care.

Dr. Sheth will accept his award at PA-ACP’s annual Education Meeting and Awards Dinner on December 9 in Harrisburg.
