Dr. English grew up in Shamokin, Pennsylvania. After receiving a degree in biology from Lafayette College, he attended medical school at Jefferson Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University. He completed his training at the United Health and Hospital Services Family Residency Program (now known as The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education Family Residency) in 1979. Dr. English also has a master’s in healthcare administration from Wilkes University. He has additional certification in adolescent medicine and geriatrics and also specializes in practice management.
Dr. English has worked in both private practice and academic medicine. He joined The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education in 2013 as program director of the Regional Family Medicine Residency, and has served as a core faculty member since 2016. He practices at Wilkes-Barre Academic Medicine and is affiliated with Wilkes Barre General Hospital. He is also an associate professor of Family Medicine at Geisinger Commonwealth Medical College. Dr. English says his favorite part of working with residents in Wilkes-Barre is watching their skills develop. In his free time, Dr. English enjoys riding his Harley and spending time with his wife, four daughters and four grandchildren.
