Meet James

James Gavin is president and CEO of Community Care Behavioral Health Organization, a non-profit, recovery-oriented behavioral health organization that is supported by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. In this role, he works collaboratively with state and county officials, as well as other behavioral health stakeholders, to ensure the delivery of clinically effective, accessible and cost-efficient behavioral health services.

Prior to joining Community Care in 1999, James served as CEO of the Scranton Counseling Center. He has over 40 years of training and experience in behavioral health care and holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from The University of Scranton and master’s degrees in social work and managerial science from Marywood University.

James sits on several boards at The Wright Center for Community Health and its affiliated entity, The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education, and is secretary of the Graduate Medical Education board. He also is active on other community boards and committees, including the Lackawanna County Area Agency on Aging, St. Joseph’s Center, Goodwill Industries, Holy Rosary Parish Council, IHM Sponsorship Education Program, IHM Peace and Justice Committee and the Mental Health Association of Allegheny County.
