Joseph Anistranski, MD joined The Wright Center for Community Health in 2018 with over 30 years of experience in patient care. He serves a well-established patient base in Luzerne County as a family medicine physician at The Wright Center for Community Health Old River Road Practice. Dr. Anistranski is also Medical Director at The Wright Center for Community Health South Franklin Street Practice.
A native of northeastern Pennsylvania, Dr. Anistranski says his background allows him to find common ground with many patients: “I was born and raised here, and I find that it’s very helpful when I can understand where my patients are coming from.” Dr. Anistranski is also a Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) certified provider and can assist individuals struggling with substance use disorder. Concurrent with his role as a primary care provider, Dr. Anistranski is part of The Wright Center’s faculty team, preparing residents and interprofessional students to serve within the ever-changing healthcare landscape. One lesson he tries to impart on all residents is, “There is a lot more to family medicine than just science.”
Dr. Anistranski earned his medical degree at Pennsylvania State University and completed his residency at Wyoming Valley Family Practice Center in Wilkes-Barre. Prior to working at The Wright Center, he was employed by InterMountain Medical Group and Catholic Social Services. He sits on the Luzerne County Medical Society Board of Directors and served as Vice President from 2001-2002.
An avid outdoorsman, Dr. Anistranski loves walking trout streams, running and handball. If he weren’t a doctor, he says he would be a fishing guide.
Dr. Anistranski is currently accepting new patients of all ages.
