The Wright Center Celebrates a Successful Caring Hearts Panel Discussion and Dinner

The Wright Center hosted a Caring Hearts panel discussion and dinner on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Carbondale Grand Hotel. This second annual event was chaired by Linda Barrasse, MD and moderated by Paola Giangiacomo, host of the popular WVIA television series Call the Doctor. Linda Thomas-Hemak, MD was joined in a panel discussion by Jumee Barooah, MD, Pranjal Boruah, MD and Sukrut Nanavaty, MD to share insights into ways patients can more effectively navigate the healthcare system, provide tips to stay heart-healthy and encourage patients to take an active role in managing their healthcare.

Joining the event this year was keynote speaker Bridget Feeney, a recent heart transplant recipient and author of the blog “Preppy Prosthetics.” Bridget is a testament the fact that health issues do not define who we are or limit what we can do in our lives.

The goal of the Caring Hearts initiative is to prevent cardiovascular diseases and create a community support network for the patients and families of cardiac conditions.

Through ticket sales and a basket raffle, the event raised funds for the Community Health Hub Driving Better Health Initiative to help our community’s patients and their families overcome care gaps, specifically lack of transportation to high-quality, affordable care.

Event sponsors included: Coordinated Health, Community Bank, NA, Contractor Transport, PNC Bank, Andrew Brown’s Pharmacy, Harrold’s Pharmacy and Primary Care Progress.
