The Wright Center Welcomes New Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Catherine Harrington DNP, CRNP, has joined The Wright Center as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. In this role, Harrington will work within a multidisciplinary team and perform psychiatric evaluations, managing medication and provide patient/family psychotherapy and education.
With more than 30 years of nursing experience, Harrington recently held a faculty position at Wilkes University teaching psychiatric mental health nursing. She has been a Psychiatric Clinical Instructor specializing in psychiatric mental health at First Hospital Wyoming Valley, Psychiatric Nursing at Mental Health Unit at Mercy Hospital (Nanticoke), Clearbrook Rehabilitation Unit, Danville State Psychiatric Hospital, Moses Taylor Hospital Senior Mental Health, Clark Summit State Psychiatric Hospital and Scranton Counseling Center.
Harrington earned a Master of Science in nursing as a clinical nurse specialist in gerontological nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice from Wilkes University, where she also received a post master’s certificate in Science in Nursing as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
She was awarded the Provost Part-time Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching at the University of Scranton, Top Clinical Student Award and Hartford Scholarship for Graduate Studies at Wilkes University.
Harrington lives in Scranton, Pennsylvania with her husband, Jack, close to their four daughters and 11 grandchildren.
