Dental Postdoctoral Training

A premier postdoctoral dental training opportunity

NYU Langone Health’s Dental Medicine Postdoctoral Residency Program is the largest dental residency program of its kind, training nearly 400 residents annually at affiliated community health center, university, and hospital sites across 29 U.S. states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The Wright Center for Community Health became an NYU Langone Health training partner in 2021. In 2024, the Commission on Dental Accreditation approved expanding the program at The Wright Center from two to three AEGD residents annually, beginning in July 2025.

The one-year AEGD program is designed for recent dental school graduates seeking advanced clinical and academic training that builds confidence, competence, and versatility in general dentistry. Residents gain extensive hands-on experience while caring for patients with a broad range of oral health needs, including those with complex medical or social needs.

Learn by doing. Care for the whole person.

At The Wright Center, AEGD residents join a multidisciplinary healthcare team and gain experience delivering comprehensive dental care in a community health setting.

The clinical experience includes:

  • Comprehensive general dentistry and multidisciplinary oral health care
  • Restorative dentistry
  • Fixed and removable prosthodontics
  • Periodontal therapy
  • Endodontic therapy
  • Oral surgery
  • Evaluation and treatment of dental emergencies
  • Pain and anxiety management
  • Care for patients with special needs and complex medical and behavioral health conditions
  • Collaboration with primary care and other health care professionals
  • Patient education, health promotion, and disease prevention

Residents also benefit from clinical and academic mentorship from experienced faculty, along with NYU Langone Health’s comprehensive didactic curriculum. The AEGD curriculum includes approximately 250 hours of online coursework and is designed to complement hands-on clinical training. Email us for more information.
