Douglas James Spegman MD, MSPH, FACP is the Chief Clinical Officer of El Rio Community Health Center in Tuscon, AZ. A fellow of the American College of Physicians (ACP), he was recognized as Clinical Leader of the Year by the Arizona Chapter of the ACP in 2011. He has served on numerous community and healthcare boards of directors and currently chairs the board of Arizona Connected Care, a southern Arizona-based accountable care organization.
Douglas earned his undergraduate degree from Colgate University, his master’s in public health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University. He completed his internal medicine residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital, serving as chief resident and assistant chief of service in the department of medicine. He has also served in the US Peace Corps in Ecuador and in the National Health Service Corps at El Rio Community Health Center.
