Wright. Soma zaidi kuhusu Dk. Wright na urithi wake ambao bado haujafunuliwa.

Today, The Wright Center nonprofit enterprise is a mission-driven organization with nearly 680 employees. Its humble origins remain a point of pride. However, it increasingly is active far beyond Greater Scranton, advocating at the state and national levels for needed improvements to both the U.S. medical education system and healthcare delivery system.

In 2019, the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) designated The Wright Center as a Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike. This designation has allowed The Wright Center to access federal resources and expertise so that it can better meet community needs. It continues to expand access to affordable, high-quality whole-person primary and preventive health services to the region’s residents, including those from rural and other medically underserved areas.

On Aug. 1, 2026, The Wright Center for Community Health achieved a transformational milestone when HRSA designated it as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). Awarded through HRSA’s highly competitive New Access Point Program, the designation transitions The Wright Center from an FQHC Look-Alike to a funded FQHC, providing new resources to expand access to affordable, high-quality whole-person primary and preventive health services throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania. It also creates new opportunities to strengthen community-based physician training, workforce development, innovative models of care, and community outreach.

For the communities we serve, the designation means a stronger healthcare safety net and greater capacity to meet people where they are. It enables The Wright Center to establish its first community health center in Monroe County, extending integrated medical, dental, mental and behavioral health, and addiction and recovery services to residents of a rural area with limited access to care. More broadly, the designation will help The Wright Center continue ensuring that individuals and families can access comprehensive, compassionate care close to home, regardless of their ability to pay.

The new designation means The Wright Center will have health centers in Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Wayne, and Wyoming counties.

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, The Wright Center acquired a mobile medical and dental unit called Driving Better Health. A care team uses the vehicle to extend primary and preventive services, such as immunizations, to historically marginalized and hard-to-reach populations, meeting patients where they live, work, play, and study.

The Wright Center for Patient & Community Engagement, a subsidiary of The Wright Center for Community Health, was formalized in the 2020s. It focuses on expanding access to care and addressing the social drivers of health – including food insecurity, homelessness and poverty – that can adversely affect underserved patients.

The Wright Center’s complementary organizations all are working in tandem to fulfill the enterprise’s mission. Read more about our mission and values, and a bold 10-year vision.
