Class of 2024

As Dr. Wei-Jen Yankelevich settles into her career as a physician at Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group in Silver Spring, Maryland, she recently reflected on what she learned during her National Family Medicine Residency (NFMR) at Unity Health Care in Washington, D.C.
She offers patients Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT), a hands-on diagnostic and treatment method used by doctors of osteopathic medicine to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness by moving muscles and joints to improve function, circulation, and the body’s natural healing ability. She said Drs. Taisei Suzuki and Anam Whyne, two NFMR graduates who later became program faculty, helped hone her skills with this treatment method. Part of the NFMR Program included a weekly OMT clinic, she said.
“At the time, it felt a lot to learn because they had such high standards,” said Dr. Yanklevich, who graduated from the NFMR program in 2024. “But looking back, it was beneficial to learn from them and gain the confidence and knowledge to offer OMT in an environment where no doctors are doing so.”
