About

With more than 40 year of training and experience in behavioral health care, James Gavin is a welcomed expert who serves as Vice Chair of The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education Board of Directors.

A graduate of the University of Scranton with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and Marywood University, where he earned master’s degrees in social work and managerial science, he served as president and CEO of Community Care Behavioral Health Organization, a nonprofit, recovery-oriented behavioral health insurance organization that is part of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Company (UPMC). In this role, he worked collaboratively with state and county officials, as well as other behavioral health stakeholders, to ensure the delivery of clinically effective, accessible and cost-efficient behavioral health services.

He also previously served as CEO of the Scranton Counseling Center and donates his time and expertise to numerous area agencies and boards dedicated to improving mental health, promoting social services and ensuring education.
