About

Kathleen P. Munley, Ph.D., C.M.F.C., professor emerita of Marywood University, serves on The Wright Center for Patient & Community Engagement Board of Directors. For nearly 50 years, she was on the faculty at Marywood University, serving as a history and social sciences professor and chair of the Department of Social Sciences for several years. During her career, Dr. Munley served on numerous university committees and was instrumental in creating the prelaw and paralegal programs, advising students within those majors and other departmental majors in the social sciences.

A native of Carbondale, Pennsylvania, Dr. Munley received her undergraduate education at Marywood University, where she majored in history and secondary education and minored in French. She then completed her Master of Science in history at the University of Pennsylvania and her Ph.D. in history at Lehigh University. Over the years, she has pursued postgraduate education and oral history studies at several schools, including the University of Scranton. An author of several books about history and politics, Dr. Munley has continued writing in her retirement, focusing on areas of personal interest.
 
Dr. Munley has contributed to her community by serving on several boards, including Pro Bono of Lackawanna County, the Mental Health Association of Lackawanna County, Friendship House, the Anthracite Museum, and the Girl Scout Council. Most recently, she collaborated with The Wright Center for Community Health to form the regional Tinnitus Support Group that coordinates with the American Tinnitus Association.
