About

Scott E. Schermerhorn, Esq., is an attorney licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and practices law in both state and federal courts. He served as a judge advocate in the U.S. Marine Corps, attaining the rank of captain. He also served as a special assistant U.S. attorney for the Department of Justice.

He is a trial attorney with more than 32 years of experience. An accredited U.S. Veterans Administration attorney, he represents veterans before Regional Offices, the Board of Veterans’ Appeals, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.

He has created a continuing legal education course specifically in veterans’ law and has served as a guest speaker in numerous local and national forums. He has served for more than 17 years on Military Review Boards for U.S. senators and congressmen within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for the purpose of selecting qualified candidates for nominations to the nation’s military academies.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in both English and psychology from the University at Albany, and a Juris Doctor degree from Vermont Law School. He also completed Officers’ Candidate School, The Basic School, and Naval Justice School while on active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps. He is the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Navy Commendation Medal.

Schermerhorn lives in Archbald with his wife and three children.
