About
Michael Mahon, Ph.D., M.B.A., is vice president of academic affairs and associate designated institutional official for The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education. He provides administrative and programmatic leadership across all educational activities, partnerships, and new educational initiatives. He works closely with Dr. Jumee Barooah, The Wright Center’s designated institutional official, to support graduate medical education, and anticipate future developments in higher education and how they will affect The Wright Centers.
Mahon, a Clarks Summit resident, earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and a master’s in school administration from the University of Scranton. After earning a master’s in business administration from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, he went on to complete a doctorate in human development from Marywood University.
Before joining The Wright Center, Mahon served as a public school superintendent for 25 years, including a tenure of 17 years in the Abington Heights School District. He began his career in education in 1990 as a science teacher at Scranton Preparatory School.
