About

Timothy Burke, D.O., FACOI, serves as vice president of organizational pride & physician empowerment, senior associate program director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program, and a physician faculty member of the Internal Medicine Residency Program. He is a senior executive leader responsible for shaping the cultural health, engagement, and mission alignment of graduate medical education (GME).

In this role, Dr. Burke champions the physician voice at the highest levels of leadership, ensuring that resident and fellow physicians are empowered, heard, and deeply connected to The Wright Center’s mission.

As a key architect of the enterprise’s “Wright Ambassador Strategy,” Dr. Burke works to embed mission-driven purpose into every aspect of the learner experience. He leads the enterprise-wide efforts to foster organizational pride, strengthen belonging, and align GME culture with The Wright Center’s broader “one enterprise” vision. Through strategic advocacy and engagement, he partners with trainees, faculty, and executive leadership to advance innovative solutions that enhance recruitment, improve physician retention, and elevate the enterprise’s national reputation as a premier training environment.

Dr. Burke also serves as senior associate program director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program, where he supports the program director in the administrative, clinical, and educational oversight of resident and fellow physicians. He plays a central role in curriculum development, accreditation readiness, and competency-based evaluation aligned with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education standards. A dedicated educator and mentor, he leads initiatives that promote continuous program partnerships, where he collaborates with regional stakeholders to advance workforce development and expand access to care.

In his faculty role, Dr. Burke is deeply committed to teaching, mentorship, and scholarship. He precepts residents and medical students in clinical settings, contributes to innovative curriculum design, and supports trainee-led research and quality improvement initiatives. He is known for fostering a learning environment grounded in professionalism, compassion, and a focus on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care for everyone.

Board-certified in internal medicine and addiction medicine, Dr. Burke earned his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education. He is accepting adult patients at our community health centers in Jermyn, 5 S. Washington Ave., and Scranton, 501 S. Washington Ave.
