About

A longtime patient, Ellen Walko serves as an integral member of both The Wright Center for Community Health Board of Directors and The Wright for Patient and Community Engagement.

She is a passionate advocate for our Opioid Use Disorder Center of Excellence and knows firsthand the impacts of addiction on families, as her son struggled with substance use for several years before his passing. Along with her family, she hosts a popular annual golf tournament that both celebrates her son’s life and raises funds to assist people in recovery. She remains an active volunteer with her parish and local food pantries.

A Carbondale native, she earned a bachelor’s degree in communication disorders from Marywood University and retired in 2014.
