Meet Susan

Susan Baroody, DO, is a physician and faculty member for The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education Internal Medicine Residency. She is also the Medical Director of The Wright Center for Community Health Scranton Practice.

Dr. Baroody joined The Wright Center as a physician and faculty member in 2010, after graduating from The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education’s Internal Medicine Residency. In addition for caring for patients, she is responsible for teaching up-and-coming physicians, and says of the program, “The residents’ education at and their exposure to such a diverse curriculum not only provides the nation with competent, compassionate, patient-centered physicians of the 21st century, but also plays a critical role in interprofessional workforce development.” 

In 2017, Dr. Baroody played an integral role in the selection of The Wright Center’s clinic as one of 24 organizations nationwide recognized as a CDC Million Hearts Hypertension Control Champion. Designation as a Million Hearts Champion was a result of the success of Dr. Baroody and the Clarks Summit Practice team in helping patients maintain healthy blood pressure levels. Dr. Baroody is also Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) certified and can assist individuals struggling with substance use disorder.

Dr. Baroody’s research interests include preventative medicine, osteopathic manipulation, practice improvement development and patient-centered medical care. She has co-authored more than 10 publications and belongs to the American College of Physicians, the American Osteopathic Association, the American Medical Association and the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association. She double-majored in biology/pre-medicine and neuroscience at King’s College and attended medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
