Family Medicine - HealthSource of Ohio
The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education has collaborated with HealthSource of Ohio, in Hillsboro, to train outstanding family medicine physicians in rural settings with an emphasis on treating underserved populations. The program immerses residents in patient care at the largest Federally Qualified Community Health Center in Ohio, serving over 85,000 patients annually. Thanks to our strong community partnerships, residents develop meaningful and long-lasting relationships with patients of all ages. Our Internal Medicine Residency Program is our longest-running and largest training program. We welcomed our first class of residents on July 1, 1977, and now train more than 100 physicians annually. We offer a new, innovative residency and fellowship pathway that aims to fill a growing need for doctors who specialize in treating the unique health challenges that come with age. The Internal Medicine-Geriatrics Integrated Residency and Fellowship Pathway, commonly known as the Combined Med-Geri Pathway, provides an alternative route for training geriatricians by integrating the clinical experiences and competencies required of a geriatrics fellowship across the internal medicine residency. The Wright Center is one of 14 training sites across the country approved by the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education to offer this unique pathway. Applicants for the reserved track must have completed a PGY-1 and are ready to start a PGY-2 for the upcoming application cycle. We offer a pair of accredited, comprehensive and community-focused family medicine residency programs. Our Regional Family Medicine Residency is located in Northeast Pennsylvania. Our National Family Medicine Residency offers four training locations across the nation, and is approved for Osteopathic Recognition by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. Both of these training programs immerse resident physicians in high-performing, certified Patient-Centered Medical Homes, Community Health Centers, Federally Qualified Health Centers Look-Alikes, and community-based hospitals.

Cardiovascular disease fellows train in community-based settings where they are immersed in a variety of organizational cultures, electronic medical record systems and varying team dynamics. Over the course of their three years in the fellowship, fellows train one-on-one with globally and nationally recognized, board-certified cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons. Under our distinguished faculty’s guidance, our fellows hone the knowledge and skills needed to provide state-of-the-art cardiac care, all while advancing the discipline through their own research projects and practice. 肠胃病学
The goals of the Gastroenterology fellowship are to enhance the care of patients in Northeast Pennsylvania facing gastrointestinal disorders, as well as to strengthen the local workforce dedicated to this specialty. Fellows gain experience in both inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology and hepatology experience, including mastery of procedural skills. Gastroenterology fellows are immersed in the community through active engagement in The Wright Center for Community Health practices, providing treatment to patients with hepatitis C. The sizable population of our country’s older residents continues to grow as baby boomers hit senior citizen status.
