Shaping Tomorrow’s Health Workforce: Local leaders inspire change on WVIA’s Conversations for the Common Good
On WVIA, a live audience experienced “Conversations for the Common Good: Shaping Tomorrow’s Health Workforce,” an inspiring local PBS program sponsored in part by The Wright Centers for Community Health and Graduate Medical Education. Recorded live at Scranton Preparatory High School’s Bellarmine Theater on June 17, 2025, the program highlights how The Wright Center’s educational programs and community partnerships transform the future of medicine by training the next generation of compassionate physicians and interprofessional health care professionals.
The program showcases hands-on efforts to expand access to whole-person, primary health services for everyone – regardless of circumstance. Viewers hear compelling stories of how education, innovation, and collaboration reshape care delivery, strengthening communities and improving lives every day.
A distinguished panel of local leaders – Dr. Linda Thomas-Hemak, president and CEO of The Wright Center; Dr. Katie Pittelli, president and CEO of Johnson College; Jill Avery-Stoss, president of The Institute; and State Representative Bridget M. Kosierowski – engage in an energetic conversation about the challenges and opportunities shaping today’s health workforce. Their discussion emphasizes the urgent need to bridge gaps in care, while highlighting how teamwork, creativity, and vision drive a more just and healthy tomorrow.
By weaving together stories of impact, innovation, and leadership, the program underscores The Wright Center’s ongoing commitment to sponsoring initiatives that educate, inspire, and elevate the future of health care for all.
